Black Forest Cake

Yield: 9" Round

Ingredients

Recipe

  • 16 oz Whipping Cream
  • 2 T Powdered Sugar
  • 2-3 C pitted, quartered Cherries
  • 1-3 T Lemon Juice
  • 1-5 T Sugar

Topping

  • Whipped Cream
  • Cherry Juice

Instructions

    Make Fudgy Brownie Cake, freeze to set.

    Whip cream just until stiff, add 2 T powdered sugar, mix just till combined.

    Reserve 1½-2 C cream in separate bowl for topping.

    Fridge both.

    Filling: place cherries, lemon juice and sugar in pot, cook high until juices release.

    Take 1-2 T juice, cool, mix with reserved cream, fridge.

    Lower heat, mix every 2 minutes, adjusting lemon/sugar (should be slightly tart).

    Cook to medium-thick jam.

    Fridge.

    Remove cake from freezer, cut into 3 even layers.

    Spread ½ cream on bottom layer with more on edges.

    Place ½ cherry jam in middle going almost to ends.

    Layer 2nd cake, repeat.

    Top with 3rd layer.

    Pipe cherry cream in zig zag pattern.

  16. 16

    Fridge until serving.

Note

Optional: dust cocoa over top when serving.
