Chocolate Danishes

Yield: 8 Giant

Ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 T Dry Yeast
  • ½ C Sugar
  • 1 C Water, warm
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ C Oil
  • 2½-4½ C Flour
  • 1 t Salt

Filling

  • 1 box Powdered Sugar
  • Cocoa
  • Oil

Instructions

    Dough: combine yeast, sugar, water, sit 10 minutes.

    Mix in eggs and oil, add 2½ C flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Slowly add more flour while kneading till smooth and bouncy.

  4. 4

    Line 9x13 with plastic, place dough, flatten a bit.

    Cover with plastic, fridge overnight (or counter 1-1½ hours).

    Filling: mix sugar and cocoa, slowly add oil till thick spreadable paste.

    Adjust sweetness.

    Divide dough in 2.

    For each: roll into rectangle taller than rugalach.

    Cut edges straight.

    Spread half filling end to end, cut rectangle in half, cut each half diagonally for 4 triangles.

    Roll from wide side (like rugalach).

    On lined sheet.

    Repeat.

    Roll up the ends with filling, place in lined muffin tins.

    Beat 1 egg with ½ T water, brush.

    Rise while preheating.

    Bake on 350 for 18 minutes until golden brown.
